4 Books That Change Me Forever

4 Books That Change Me Forever

1. The Way Of The Superior Man by David Deida

How did I find the book?

This book was recommended by David DeAngelo (Eben Pagan) in one of his seminars.

How the Book Changed Me?

I was a teenager when I bought this book. At the time, I never thought of masculine and feminine as energies. All I knew was binary gender identification. As I read the book, every chapter resonated with me and made a deep spiritual impact on me. It was like reading a how-to manual for a Man or, to say more appropriately, for being Masculine energy. Looking back, I believe this book laid down solid foundations in my understanding of the world and in living a  purposeful, confident, and directed life with deep integrity and humor. I cannot recommend this book enough.

2. Ultra learning by Scott H. Young

How did I find the book?

I found this book through Blinkist. I read and re-read the summary of the book on Blinkist so many times that I finally decided to purchase the kindle version of the book to read this book in and out.

How the Book Changed Me?

I have always enjoyed learning, but at some deeper level, I always felt as if I was either learning in an impure way and showing off how quickly I can learn new ideas and concepts that I find interesting and deeply curious about. On listening to this book Blinkist, I literally jumped off my chair, thinking this is exactly what I do to some extent. The approach described in the book vaguely matched my style of learning. This book showed me that there isn’t a right or correct way of learning and gave me confidence in my instincts of learning.

3. How to Have a Beautiful Mind by Edward de Bono

How did I find the book?

I found this book while browsing a book store at the airport.

How the Book Changed Me?

I am glad I found this book when I did. It taught me about having beautiful conversations with anyone. It is fascinating how much time we spend on making our outer appearance look beautiful and so little on making our brain beautiful. This book discusses how to have a beautiful conversation, agreements, disagreements, and other social situations.

4. The Simple Path To Wealth By JL Collins

How did I find the book?

I saw Google talks by JL Collins on my youtube feed which hooked me for the entire video duration thereafter I looked up his book and bought it.

How the Book Changed Me?

This is one of the very few financial advice books I have read.  I could essentially summarize the whole book in 1 line; Buy VVanguard 500 Index Fund ETF (VOO) and Vanguard Total Bond Market Index Fund ETF (BND). The book argues why this is enough for long-time investing and simple enough for anyone to start investing.

He also made a brilliant parody of F-you Money by John Goodman.

Don’t forget to check out his blog here. It’s a treasure trove of good advice.
